Backup (Server)

Enterprise Technology Services provides data backup and recovery services for servers.  Once configured, the software automatically backs up your system every night to a central, secure storage facility.  The backup data is then replicated to a secondary location.  File recovery is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This service utilizes the Cohesity backup solution.

Three different retention options are offered.  

  • 14 days for test and dev systems  
  • 13 weeks for standard systems
  • 13 months for critical systems or those with regulatory requirements for data retention

The service uses block based backups. A full backup is taken during the first backup of your server. Each subsequent backup is incremental and saves only the data that has changed since the last backup.  Once the retention window is reached for a server the oldest backups are aged off.

Recovery times can vary based upon the size of the server and volume of concurrent restores.  A recover of a single server/file/folder can typically be done within an hour.  In the event that a mass recovery of many servers is required prioritization of the services to be restored will dictate the amount of time it takes.  This could be up to 24 or more hours.

The daily backup schedule typically runs between 6:30pm and 11pm.
