Microsoft Enterprise Agreement

Microsoft Windows and productivity software licensed for use on university-owned devices.

The University of Vermont subscribes to a Microsoft volume licensing program for the most commonly used Microsoft software for university-owned computers. The Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) — also commonly referred to as the Microsoft Campus Agreement — provides the latest releases of the Windows workstation operating systems and Microsoft Office software, as well as Client Access Licenses to Windows services like Exchange (email and calendar) and SharePoint.

In addition, the Enterprise Agreement includes Student Advantage and Employee Advantage programs that provide free Microsoft Office applications to current Students and Employees for use on personally-owned devices.

Features

License includes the following:

  • Windows workstation operating system upgrades
  • Microsoft Office Pro Plus for Windows
  • Microsoft Office for Mac
  • Activation requires no user interaction
  • Enterprise Client Access Licenses for employees to access many Microsoft services
  • Core Client Access Licenses for students to access many Microsoft services

Get Started

Students should refer to the Microsoft Office for Students offering.

Computers that University departments purchase through the UVM Tech Store will include Windows and Microsoft Office as covered by the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement.

The computer imaging and deployment services provided by Enterprise Technology Services install volume license versions of Windows and/or Office applications.

For personal and mobile devices, employees should refer to the Microsoft Office for Employees offering.

For IT Professionals

Windows OS and Microsoft Office licenses are available for university-owned devices and require on-campus network connections periodically to renew their activation. As long as the device is owned by UVM, there aren't any license restrictions on who uses the device.

For UVM-owned systems that will be off site for extended periods (site-based research equipment, sabbatical, etc.), we can provide alternate activation keys.

The Workstation OS volume licenses are upgrade licenses. You must purchase Windows computers with a Windows operating system to qualify for the upgrade entitlement. This is enforced by system BIOS information.
